When No One Is Watching.
Wow. I’ve always been a fan of provocative or disruptive advertising, and this bus shelter for Amnesty International promoting domestic violence awareness is just spectacular. Using motion sensor and recognition technology, the display changes depending on whether you’re looking at it or not. Brilliant. More info at Copyranter.
The Great Trash Island.
I’ve been curious for a long time about this reputed ‘Great Trash Island’ floating out in the Pacific Ocean. Here, it’s addressed at a recent TED conference. Pretty dumbfounding. We reap what we sow…
Technology Milestones.
Here is what a Web product looks like to the average user ‘right now’ and through the next 3 years: 30 seconds: “I get it.” 3 minutes: “I’ve used it and still get it, and it hasn’t annoyed me yet.” 3 days: “I find this really useful or fun.” 3 weeks: “I am raving about [...]
Celebrity Death Made Public.
Media celebrity coverage makes me queasy to begin with, but the recent frenzy surrounding drug-addled wacko Jacko really makes me want to hurl.
The Real Enemy is Plastic.
Wonderful article by Gary Kamiya about the Gov. Sanford scandal in Salon.com. The last para in particular struck me: I’m neither defending nor condemning Sanford — such judgments, from outsiders, are meaningless. I know nothing whatsoever about Sanford, his wife or his lover. I also admit I might be wrong about him. He might simply [...]
Art vs. Vandalism
No idea where this came from, but it reminds me of the perpetual graffiti debate here in New Orleans, courtesy of the Gray Ghost jackass.
Celeb + Twitter = Douche.
This might be why people hate Americans. Imagine – if Brody’s father Bruce hadn’t been such a fast runner back in the day, we’d likely be donating money to him when we’re drunk. If this kid put any of his resources or privilege toward something meaningful, I’d be impressed. As is, what a douchebag.
Keep Being Awesome.
Heh, props to the Carnivore. And I’m a vegetarian. If I could make a living mocking stupid coffee shop bulletins, I’d be tempted. Keep being awesome, indeed.
