Support Your Local Heroin Brand.
Neat blurb about a startup art project documenting ‘heroin brands’ – the stamps found on bags of heroin identifying their maker or seller.  This has always been a little intriguing to me.  You can support their project with a small donation here.

In case of Vampire…
I go back & forth on the Vampire phenomenon, but really love this type of creative ‘disruptor’ advertising. Nice.

Building Gets Blown.
From Copyranter: I’m assuming this was a real placement, since the ad won a Media Bronze Lion at last week’s Cannes Festival. That’s the Haitong Securities building in Shanghai, fairly famous in the architectural world for its unique wave design. Opposite it, is a large billboard for a Midea fan, created by Firstell Communications.

When No One Is Watching.

Using motion sensor and recognition technology, the display changes depending on whether you’re looking at it or not. Brilliant. More info at Copyranter.

No idea where this came from, but it reminds me of the perpetual graffiti debate here in New Orleans, courtesy of the Gray Ghost jackass.

Invisible People.
The recent ‘election’ crisis in Iran has prompted claims of concern worldwide for the people of that country – but are these not the same folks who wanted to bomb them not so long ago? Interesting article from Glenn Greenwald in Salon.com.

Exploding Drinks.
From Wired How To. Freeze the Menthos into ice cubes and serve in Diet Cokes. Wait for melt, and BOOM. Nice.

Taking Virgin to the Woodshed.
Hilarious post from The Anti-Advertising Agency taking Virgin Airlines to task for its forced and intrusive ‘faux guerrilla’ marketing stumble. I get queasy when companies go ‘street’ – to me, it just smells disingenuous. I give some credit to Virgin for its provocative and creative legacy, but this awkward ‘Flydealists’ marketing propaganda just strikes me [...]
