We were tickled to see that President Obama stopped in at one of our favorite lunch spots, Parkway Bakery & Tavern, while he was in town for the Katrina +5 anniversary. He apparently got the shrimp po-boy.

David Simon’s new HBO series ‘Treme’ debuted last Sunday, and I got to watch it recently. It’s always tough to see New Orleans portrayed by the outside world, but Treme does so relatively well. Gorgeous cinematography, great music and vibe – so we’ll try to forgive the heavy-handed cultural name dropping and awkward references. All in all, I’m gratified to see our story being told by such a capable team. Looking forward to episode two.

Wow. The New Orleans Saints, after 43 years of disappointment, won the Super Bowl last night. Pretty crazy. Overshadows the historic municipal elections over the weekend, and Mardi Gras is firing up to boot. Pass the Tylenol.

Wow, I’m not usually too in tune to sports in general, but this year has been fun for fans of the New Orleans Saints. Last night we came back from a 21-pt. deficit at halftime to crush the Miami Dolphins by a double-digit spread, putting us at 6-0 for the season so far. This is as well as the Saints have done since I moved to New Orleans almost 20 years ago. In 1991 we went 7-0 with Jim Mora coaching, and Bobby Hebert QBing and Morten Andersen kicking. Been a while. Fun to see my sports fan friends so stoked about the Saints. No paper bags this year…

My business partner of more than two years, Jonah Langenbeck, is making a big career move, recently accepting the Interactive Media Manager position at the National WWII Museum. We partnered back in 2007 and spent the last two years working (sometimes frantically) on dozens of websites and interactive assets for various local and national clients. It has been among the most productive periods of my working life, and certainly the most rewarding challenge I’ve found in New Orleans. I join our team of designers and developers in enthusiastically wishing Jonah much success and fulfillment in his new role!

Whether serendipity or just plain luck, I don’t know that either of us expected the whirlwind of business that the last two years brought us. I know that Jonah will bring his outstanding talents with him to the rapidly-expanding and extraordinary museum. We will definitely miss you at the office, Jonah, but we expect you at Felipés regularly to keep you up to date on the drama and fireworks of our life in the trenches ;-)
